JAMMU, Dec 31: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today conducted a major drive against the unauthorized hoardings/structures erected to display the advertisements.
During drive JMC men and machinery dismantled three huge unauthorized hoardings which near Balole Bridge in Ward No. 68.
The team also dismantled three hoardings from the private roof tops and public places at Bhagwati Nagar which were erected unauthorisedly to display illegal advertisements.
The removed structures were in violation of the provisions of J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000. A handout of JMC quoted the Advertisement Policy 2010 to state that no person except licensed or registered advertisers or agencies is allowed to undertake the display of advertisement on behalf of others without prior permission of Commissioner.
The handout further stated that such illegal hoardings, sign boards, posters, banners and bill boards defaces the property, buildings and walls of the city and is also constant threat to pedestrians and traffic safety which is punishable under Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
