JAMMU, Feb 22: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta along with Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor and Narinder Singh, Chairman Health and Sanitation Committee of JMC today dedicated two new Refuse Compactors for the service of the city.
Kishore Kumar Executive Engineer Division-II; Amitabh Manhas, Assistant Executive Engineer (Mechanical) JMC; S. Harvinder Singh, I/C Chief Transport Officer; S. Dharamveer Singh, I/C Transport Officer; Rakesh Bhatt, I/C Transport Officer; S. Hardeep Singh, I/C Sanitation Officer and other field staff of Transport as well as Health Section of JMC were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said, as limits of JMC have been extended now and JMC is facing hardships due to shortage of men and machinery in providing better sanitation facilities to the citizens.
“But still the transport and sanitation wing of JMC has been working hard and sufficient number of R.C bins/trolleys have already been installed at prominent places in city to collect garbage.
Deputy Mayor also spoke on the occasion and directed the Transport Section to utilize the services of these new refuse compactors in an effective manner so that the R.C bins which often remains filled with garbage waste materials and installed in the various wards of the city may be got thoroughly empty on daily basis.
Earlier Mayor in the presence of Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji, Vikram Randhawa, Ex-MLC and Tirath Kour Randhawa, Councillor Ward 58 started construction work of RCC culvert over the canal passing near Gurudwara in Digiana.
Prof. Youdhveer Singh, Councillor Ward 73, S. Paramjeet Singh Pummy, Ex. Councillor, S. Surinder Sing, S. Avtar Singh, S. Bhupinder Singh, Sardar S.S Sasan along with other prominent inhabitants of Digiana and Sham Lal Puri, Junior Engineer of Irrigation Department, concerned contractor and others were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that construction of the bridge has been started today by the Irrigation & Flood Control Department with an estimate cost of Rs 15 lakh.
He was apprised by the concerned department that a protection wall alongside canal towards residential locality will also be constructed with an estimate cost of Rs 15 lakh soon to protect the road from further sinking.
