JMC Health Officer inspects quality of eatables in shops

JAMMU, Sept 11: Continuing drive against the menace of adulteration, the Health Officer Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr Vinod Sharma today conducted an extensive tour of the city and inspected quality of eatables at various food establishments.
The Health Officer, along-with a team of Food Safety Officers, Assistant Sanitation Officers, Sanitary Inspectors and other field staff, visited the areas like Nai Basti and checked the quality of eatables at food, meat,  vegetables, fruits and sweet shops. Compounding charges of Rs 3590 were also realized from defaulters and about 6 kg of polythene was seized by the team, which also imposed a fine of Rs 400 to four defaulters in the city.
During the round, the Municipal team advised citizens not to smoke in the public places as it is injurious to health. Food establishment owners were asked to adhere to the terms and conditions of FSS Act 2006 and keep their premises neat and clean for ensuring supply of pure and good quality of food items to the customers. All the business owners were also instructed not to use polythene bags.
