JAMMU, Sept 18: An awareness and practical demonstration regarding Solid Waste Management was taken up today by members of Solid Waste Management team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) at Pacca Talab, Sarwal Road, Ward No 17.
The team of JMC briefed the residents about the solid waste management. The team appealed the residents not to use polythene carry bags and instead use jute/cloth carry bags and plant a tree in their surroundings.
They told people how to prepare compost from organic waste of the homes. People carefully listened and determined to take up such fruitful case in homes as well as surroundings. People were shown container of Blue and Green colours to collect organic and inorganic waste of their home separately.
The initiative was taken by the JMC on the directions of Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, Advocate Purnima Sharma (Deputy Mayor), Suraj Parkash Padha (Chairman, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, JMC) and Pankaj Magotra (Commissioner, JMC), to change the behavior of the people.
The programme was attended by Ashwani Kumar, Ved Pal Sharma and other team members who installed the banners and posters at the venue.
