JAMMU, Apr 22: Transport Section of Jammu Municipal Corporation has launched anti encroachment drive at Nai Basti with the help of heavy duty machinery like rock breaker, JCBs and other machinery of JMC under the supervision of R S Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (Adm), JMC.
Accompanied by Chief Transport Officer Talat Mahmood Khan and Transport Officer Balbir Singh, the drive was launched to facilitate the desilting of nallahs passing through Nai Basti and Satwari Chowk to Digiana.
During the drive, Kavinder Gupta, Speaker Legislative Assembly, also visited both the spots and appreciated the steps taken by JMC for giving relief to the people of these areas. On the spot instructions were given to Transport wing of JMC for deploying extra men and machinery if required for immediate redressal of the public grievances.
The JMC assured the general public that desilting and removal of slabs on the nallahs will be done within 10 to 15 days for its successful completion and this will provide big relief to all the general public in the forthcoming monsoon season.
