JAMMU, Sept 20: The Jammu Municipal Corporation launched “Clean up Jammu” sanitation drive in Ward No. 30, 31 and 32 covering more than 18 mohallas and business centres located in these wards.
The drive was led by Commissioner JMC, Kiran Wattal and team of officers. The endeavor of the drive is to improve the civic amenities available to the citizens of Jammu city. The drive will continue till October 29, 2013.
The team inspected every nook and corner of Kailash Nagar, Dr. Mohni Suri Lane, Patel Nagar, lane 4 to 16 Talab Tiloo, Suvidha Lane, B. N. Hospital, Hari Nagar, NITCO Lane, UNO Lane, Friends Lane, Gole Pulli, Vikas Lane Talab Tillo, Exhange Mohalla, Indira Colony, Jian Colony Sunder Nagar, Om Nagar, Amar Colony and Gole Panj Peer to assess the sanitary condition and performance of other municipal services. The team also visited dumping site at Bhagwati Nagar and reviewed the maintenance there.
The drive was followed by public grievances meets at Talab Tillo Park and park near Jaswant Plaza, Gole Pulli in which all the officers of the Corporation including Joint Commissioner (A), Joint Commissioner (W), Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Executive Engineers, Compost-cum-Transport Officer and Chief Khilafwarzi Officers were present.
During the camps, issues related to sanitation of wards, lifting of stray animals, removal of mulba lying on road side, lanes/bye lanes, maintenance of street lights, repair and remodeling of drains/lanes were discussed in threadbare. The participants were informed that the Sanitary Inspectors have been nominated as Nodal Officials in their respective wards who will be responsible for all the services related to the Corporation and will act as an interface for addressing the problems of the citizens.
The Municipal Commissioner asked all the residents, shopkeepers/ vendors and other concerned to pay user charges to the Corporation that will help in door to door collection of garbage from households and business establishments resolving the sanitation problems in the area. The gathering was also asked avoid use of polythene carry bags.
