“The COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns have adversely impacted the livelihoods of street vendors. The Mayor, accompanied by Deputy Mayor JMC, Advocate Purnima Sharma, Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa and Chairman Social Justice Committee, Jeet Lal Angral, appealed the street vendors to apply for working capital loan up to Rs 10,000 under PM Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi scheme, a special micro-credit facility for street vendors making them self-reliant under Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
Admitting that the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns have adversely impacted the livelihoods of street vendors, Mayor said that PM SVANB Nidhi would provide urgent help for arranging working capital to street vendors to resume their business. “JMC has started a mega drive to identify all those street vendors who could not get themselves registered till date and it is a golden opportunity to get them covered under ongoing survey through concerned area Sanitation Officer/Sanitary Inspector/ Sanitary Supervisor/ officials designated for the same,” he said adding that the registered street vendors can avail the facility of capital loan under PM SVANB Nidhi by going to the nearest bank where they can apply manually or can opt for online application on PM SVANB Nidhi website.
The Mayor also highlighted the work done by Jammu Municipal Corporation to combat the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, including fogging/spraying, installation of disinfectant tunnels at various public places and appealed the general public to maintain social distancing norms as the number of positive cases are increasing day by day.
Mayor further stressed that as the Government has increased the testing rate per day, there is no need for panic but to take precautionary measures.
