JMC launches surprise drive

JAMMU, Jan 24: A surprise drive was launched by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in Bakshi Nagar, Meheshpur, Reshamgarh, K.C. Chowk and adjoining areas of the city today under the supervision of Municipal Veterinary Officer and his team.
During the drive various mutton shops were checked and on spot 16 kgs of mutton was seized which was found hanging outside the shops having dust over it while some mutton was lying in the shops unstamped.
The mutton sellers have been given strict warning to remain vigilant as the sale of substandard mutton will not be allowed.
Later, a surprise check was conducted and approximately five kgs of Polythene was sized from them.
During the drive an amount of Rs.4100 was imposed upon the defaulters and they were warned to avoid the use of Polythene bags for which the State Government has imposed ban.
