JAMMU, Mar 20: To further intensify the sanitation drive and to avoid spreading of novel coronavirus in Jammu City, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today visited Old Age Home Amphalla, Jammu where he distributed masks among inmates of old Age Home and started Thermal Fogging.
The Mayor was accompanied by Suneet Kumar Raina (Councillor of Ward No 9), Shamim Mir, Health Officer, JMC and other field staff of Sanitation Wing of Corporation & Malaria Department. Apart from distributing masks and imparting awareness to the old persons living there regarding COVID – 19, proper spray of Sodium Hypo Chloride Solution and Thermal fogging were also conducted in and around the Old Age Home.
Gupta also requested the inmates to follow the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Nation as this disease easily affects to children below the age of 10 years as well as Senior Citizens above the age of 65 years. He advised them to keep social distance as much as possible. Mayor also directed the Sanitation staff and management of the said Home to maintain proper cleanliness there on routine basis.
Later Mayor also conducted tour of Ward number 44 along with local Councillor Inder Singh Sudan and kick started the construction work of lanes and drains in Sector 13 of Nanak Nagar at an estimated cost of Rs 4 lakh. Arun Gupta Executive Engineer, concerned Junior Engineer, Contractor, Manmohan Singh, Ravinder Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Surjeet Singh and other inhabitants were also accompanying the Mayor during the tour.
The JMC Mayor directed the Engineering wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation to complete the work within the stipulated time period with quality material and also appeal to the general public to co-operate with the Corporation in development activities as well maintaining better sanitation in and around their locality.
