JMC seals establishments for non-payment of rent

JAMMU, Apr 16: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today sealed three municipal commercial establishments for non-payment of rent and also conducted an anti-encroachment drive with special focus on footpaths, illegal hoardings, rehries/pharies.
On the instructions of Commissioner, JMC, Avny Lavasa and under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (R), JMC, Sudhir Bali, the commercial establishments at Gumat Steps (Jammu) were sealed as the allotted did not pay the rent dues.
The allottees were served several notices to deposit the rent arrears accumulated against them but despite lapse of stipulated time period they have failed to deposit the same.
Meanwhile, in a spree to remove encroachments in Jammu City, a drive was conducted by JMC at Ambphalla, New Plot and Janipur main bazaar. During the drive, the team removed 2-truck loads of material including goods displayed by the shopkeepers in front of their shops and also lifted hoardings.
The encroachers and shopkeepers of the areas were warned to keep their saleable items within their shutter line and not to encroach the footpaths which lead to congestion, and obstruct free movement of pedestrians on footpath. The street vendors were also directed to ply their rehries only in the Rehri Zones established by JMC.
