JMWM concern over water scarcity in Jagti township

JAMMU, Aug 8: Jagti Migrants Welfare Movement (JMWM) has expressed grave concern over water scarcity problem faced by the inmates of Jagti township for last six days.
In a meeting of the Committee here today addressed by Sunil Pandita, its convener and others said that despite repeated pleas the Jal Shakti Department has failed to take over the Jagti Water Supply Scheme with the result the inmates of the township are put to problems especially during the Monsoon and other rainy seasons as the present water supply schemes does not run properly during the rainy seasons.
Pandita said, while the contractors on extension basis are enjoying payment for water supply, but the camp inmates face the water scarcity problem continuously. Pandita said the Jal Shakti Department which has been asked by the Government to take over this scheme way back has been adopting delaying tactics with the result the people in the township are suffering.
Pandita said their requests are not being paid any heed by the concerned officers.
He appealed the Government to immediately release the Atta (Flour) to migrant relief holders, stopped without any reason for last one year, as the Government has said in the Parliament that Atta is being issued with Rice to the migrants, when the fact is that it has been stopped for last one year.
He also demanded security to be provided in migrant camps.
Ashwani Bhat, general secretary T K Dhar chairman, Shobin Bhat Satish Bhat, Ashok Dhar, P L Pandita, R K Tiku also addressed the meeting.
