LEH, Dec 15: In a round table meeting held here today between heads of various religious bodies and political parties besides Employees’ Unions of Leh and Kargil districts, a joint action committee under the name of Ladakh Region Joint Action Committee for Protection of Reservation was formed to fight for the due rights of employees’ class of both districts.
In the meeting all the heads of the religious associations of Leh and Kargil strongly raised their concern about the regressive impact of the Judgment on the Government Employees of both the District and unresponsive attitude of the State Government.
The participants termed the issue as a brutal attack on the due rights of Government employees in particular and of Ladakh in general. Some of the participants expressed that if the State Government and the people of J&K are not willing to give them their due share in the growth, it is time that they must explore other alternatives.
After threadbare discussion on the issue, a Joint Action Committee under the name of Ladakh Region Joint Action Committee for Protection of Reservation was formed by electing 16 members from each district, to spearhead the massive agitation for protection of reservation.
It was also decided in the meeting that the committee will organize massive agitation in both the district as well as at State and National Capital for protection of reservation of the employees’ class of Ladakh region. The meeting decided that on December 22, a complete shutdown will be observed in whole of Ladakh.
The meeting also decided to strive for the due Special Duty Allowance of 12.5 % to the employees of Ladakh, which the State Government is denying despite being duly recommended by the 6th Pay Commission and Union Finance Ministry Office memo dated August 29, 2008.
