Joint LAHDC Panel discusses developmental issues of Ladakh

JAMMU, Mar 4:  A meeting of the Joint Panel of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh and Kargil was held here today under the chairmanship of Haji Anayat Ali (Chairman LC) to discuss the issues confronted by the Hill Councils and to chalk out the future development road map in the region.
Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, Legislators, Asgar Ali Karbali, Deldan Namgial, Chief Executive Councilor, Leh, Dr. Sonam Dawa, Chief Executive Councilor, Kargil, Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan, Executive Councilor Tourism, Leh, Tsering Sandup and other councilors also attended the meeting.
The meeting held wide ranging discussion on several issues related to the overall development of the Ladakh region, status of annual plan, status of important ongoing developmental projects etc. The members suggested several measures to further improve the governance of LAHDC at Leh and Kargil by putting in place innovative and vibrant mechanism. The issues related to the proposed amendments in the LAHDC were also discussed in detail, aimed at further strengthening the Council.
Dorjey informed that the Government has enhanced the District Plan for Leh and Kargil districts from Rs. 45 crore to Rs. 50 crore each and also released 50% of funds for the financial year 2017-18. He said the enhancement of budget will give further boost to the developmental activities in the twin districts.
The Chairman called upon the participants to put in their coordinated efforts for the development and betterment of the region and stressed the need for regular monitoring of on-going projects so that these are completed in a time bound manner.
