Alert on LoC ahead of winters

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 21: Security forces continued joint search operations in different areas of Kalakote tehsil and other parts of Rajouri district even as no contact has been established with the militants so far.
As per the officials, search operations are going on in Kalakote, Dharamshal, Sial Sui and surrounding areas besides the Pir Panjal range.
Searches were launched in parts of Kalakote after two suspects entered the house of a late religious leader and sought food. However, they disappeared later and it couldn’t be confirmed whether they were the militants.
Taking no chance, police, Army and paramilitary forces continued searches in several areas of Kalakote but no contact has been established with the militants anywhere.
Searches in other areas of border district are also on as part of stepped up operations against the militants. Some parts of Pir Panjal are also being regularly searched by the troops to ensure that there is no presence of the militants.
A strict surveillance is being maintained by the Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to thwart possibility of infiltration attempts by the militants ahead of winters.
There were reports that Pakistan-based militant commanders could push the militants through the Line of Control before the winter sets-in.
“In view of this, Army has been maintaining a very high alert along the LoC,” the officials said.
