KARGIL, June 13: Joint Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA), Government of India, Sanjeet, today visited several villages of Kargil district to review the progress of various projects under Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
A press statement said that the Joint Secretary initially visited Broklungma Wakha village of Shragole Block and inspected the construction work of percolation tank with 2.76 lakh gallon of water capacity.
The concerned officials informed the Joint Secretary about the usage of water to be stored in the water tank having dimensions 40/30/4 meters. Further, it was informed that the stored water would be used for irrigation purposes in the village.
The Joint Secretary said it is a significant asset for water conservation and irrigation purpose. He also appreciated the efforts used in the construction of the tank.
He also reviewed the work progress of water tanks constructed at Pasgo Apati and Yourbaltak Apati.
After reviewing various similar projects, Joint secretary lauded the progress achieved in the district and instructed to continue the same pace of projects.
Concluding his visit, the Joint Secretary said that all the initiatives aimed on sustainable land and water management to enhance the agricultural productivity and mitigate the adverse effects of soil erosion and water scarcity.
