Jora, Bhalla inspect ongoing projects

JAMMU, Feb 20: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today inspected the pace of progress on Kunjwani Byepass Rotary and Recreation Parks being developed around it to add attraction and aesthetic look to the City of Temples.
Accompanied by Minister for Culture and Housing, Raman Bhalla, Mr Jora also visited Major Jasrotia Park, Sainik Colony and Ramlila Club, Sainik Colony.
While inspecting the pace on the construction work on the Kunjwani Bypass Chowk, Rotary and four recreation parks being developed around it, the Minister was informed that Rs 50 lakh against estimated cost of Rs.2.95 crore have been spent on the project so far and the work is in full swing.
Mr Jora while taking feedback from the concerned engineers, directed the executing agency to complete the work on war footing to ensure completion before onset of the tourist season. He said the spot being on the entry of the City of Temples would leave a good impact on the visiting tourists. He said that Government under ambitious programme, has decided to develop all the regions including two capital cities of the State on the modern lines and create a world class tourist infrastructure and better civic facilities for the common people. He said lakhs of tourists, including pilgrims are daily visiting City of Temples so the officials of the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Jammu Development Authority have a great responsibilities on the their shoulders to keep the Jammu city neat and clean and provide them all facilities. He said better road connectivity, better sanitation and other civic facilities would attract more and more tourists to the City of Temples.
Responding to the demands of Sainik Colony people, the Minister said that he would take up the maintenance of Major Jasrotia Park with Floriculture Department.
The Minister also visited Ram Lila Club, Sainik Colony, where the management demanded construction of shed for the security personnel deployed at the place.
Mr Jora directed JMC officials to examine the demands of the locals and address the same.
He said he has issued strict instructions to JMC, JDA to pay special attention to sanitation, including proper maintenance of drains, lanes to keep city neat and clean . He said the civic body has been asked to keep a close check on illegal dumping of the garbage and debris.
On the occasion, Mr Raman Bhalla asked the executing agencies to expedite work on the projects to ensure their timely completion. He also aksed the people to cooperate with the Government agencies to keep parks and localities clean
The Ministers were accompanied by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, K.L Khajuria and other senior officers of the concerned officials.
