Jora inspects JDA, JMC upcoming works; sites for new projects

JAMMU, May 22: Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies Nawang Rigzin Jora today conducted extensive tour of Jammu city and its suburbs  and inspected various sites where the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) have proposed and started new projects.
The Minister visited proposed site of Chhamb Bus stand and was apprised about the pace of progress on the project. The proposed Chhamb Bus Stand will be constructed over an area of 205 kanal at Gurha Brahmana.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to expedite land acquisition and compensation disbursement process to ensure early start of work.
Mr. Jora also visited the proposed Solid Waste Management site at Kot Bhalwal being developed over an area of 361 kanals and 15 marlas. He was apprised that the land acquisition and compensation disbursement process was under progress and the same would be completed soon.
At Muthi, the Minister inspected the site for proposed vegetable market being constructed over an area of    2.5 kanals. The Vegetable market will have 40 sheds and would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 56 lakh.
The Minister also inspected the pace of progress on the upcoming Accounts and Treasury Building  being  constructed at a cost of  Rs. 10.65 crore. The Minister was informed that Rs. 4.47 crore have been expended on the construction work till ending April. The Minister directed the executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work to avoid cost escalation.
The Minister also visited site for shopping Mall at EWS Colony Roop Nagar proposed to be developed by JDA over a plot area of 7.9 kanals. The project cost of the Shopping Mall is estimated to be Rs. 20.33 crores. Mr. Jora was informed that the Mall would be constructed on modern lines and will have lift and escalator facilities. The Minister enjoined upon the officers to complete   the formalities so that the work on the project would be started soon.
Mr. Jora also visited the proposed sites for construction of residential flats at Muthi. The flatted accommodation at the proposed site would be available with 3 bedroom   and 2 Bed Room sets. The total   cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 74.32 crore. The Minister also visited the Site -II   where JDA has a plan to construct 272 two bed room sets, including 176 two bed room sets for people of Economically Weaker Section (EWS)   at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.10 crore.
At Roop Nagar Colony, the Minister directed the JDA authority to convert all the vacant land into plots.
He also visited the proposed shopping Mall site at Talli Morh. The Mall would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs.24.42 crore over an area of 8.7 kanal comprises of Basement and five floor.
While interacting with people at Ram Vihar Park Janipur, the Minister directed the JDA authorities to start the repair and renovation of the park and complete the same in a stipulated time frame for the convenience of the local people.
Among others, Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority, Satesh Nehru, Commissioner JMC K. L Khajuria, Director Land Management JDA Jatinder Singh, SE JDA P. L. Bhushan, Chief Town Planner Joginder Singh, XEN JDA Balbir Singh, Chief Khilafwarzi Officer, Ashok Sharma, other senior officers of JDA and other concerned departments also accompanied the Minister.
