Jora inspects pace of development works

JAMMU, May 21: To assess the pace of work on various prestigious projects undertaken by JDA and Jammu Municipal Corporation, Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today conducted an extensive tour of Jammu city.
The Minister was accompanied by Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority, Satish Nehru, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kuldeep Khajuria, SE, PWD, Chief Town Planner and other senior officers of concerned departments.
During his visit to various localities, the Minister inspected Commercial Complex (Office Block) at Narwal and took stock of the pace of work there. The Minister was apprised that the cost of project is Rs 5.84 crore and about Rs.1.5 crore has been spent till date. The complex have ample place for idle parking with other necessary facilities.
Mr. Jora also visited Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Transport Nagar.  Spread over an area of 72 kanal land, the ISBT is being constructed by Jammu Development Authority. The concerned authorities apprised the Minister that 130 shops would also be constructed at ISBT to rehabilitate the tour and travellers and other traders.
At Trikuta Nagar, the Minister inspected the pace of work on Commercial Complex which is being constructed by Jammu Development Authority at an estimated cost of Rs. 90 lakh. The 80 percent work on the project is complete with an expenditure of Rs. 75 lakh so far. The Minister asked the officers to expedite the pace of work to ensure early completion of the project.
During his visit to Channi Kamala, the Minister took serious note of encroachment on JDA land and asked the Vice Chairman to immediately evict the same and start development of plots.
Later, the Minister inspected 45 kanal JDA land at Dilli and enjoined upon the officers to explore   options for optimum use of the available land. He suggested   for construction of a commercial complex at the site.
Earlier, interacting with traders and local residents, the Minister said that the Government was making all out efforts to up-grade civic facilities in Jammu city.  He said focus is being laid on to develop residential and commercial assets for people on reasonable rates.
