LEH, Apr 17: Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora today inspected the progress work on the world’s highest Golf Course which is being developed on 1520 Kanals of land at the shore of Indus at Shey. This Golf Course which is of International standard having 18 holes would be completed by the October 2013 at a cost of Rs 12 crore.
The engineers apprised the Minister about the salient feature of this Golf Course saying that it will be ready for practice by end of this working season.
Jora also inspected the Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra at Ti-suru Leh today where finishing works and final touching of the auditorium and other infrastructure are going on with full swing.
It is to mention that the major events of upcoming Ladakh International Film Festival would be held in this complex in June this year. Mainly in the 400 capacity auditorium of this complex, the international films will be screened in the competition section. Jora urged the engineers speed up the execution works so that the auditorium will be ready in time.
Jora also inspected the progress work at Himalayan Cultural Centre at Gonpa area of Leh which is coming up at a cost of Rs 30 crore under Tourism sector.
Jora said that the model of this Cultural Centre is already completed as such the need of the hour is to focus on early completion of this Centre.
He also inspected the construction work of Ladakh Convention Centre and the Food Craft Institute at Takski-thang Leh and urged the engineers for early completion of these important infrastructures.
Deputy Commissioner Tsering Angchok who was accompanying the Minister apprised in detail about the progress of works at these sites. The Engineers and District Officers also accompanied the Minister during his inspection.
