JAMMU, Feb 22: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today visited Chamber House and interacted with the office bearers of the Chamber of Chamber of Commerce & Industries.
The Minister while having a detailed discussion with members of the organization, said that their organization can play a vital role for strengthening the Jammu and Kashmir State economically at the grass root level and added that now the world focus is on the strong economy rather than other things.
Earlier, the office bearers of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries submitted a charter of demands for making Jammu more tourists attractive, vibrant, and prepare it for meeting the challenges to devise a futurist and perspective plan that can offset these challenges.
The Minister was also informed about the fast mushroom growing buildings, pressure on the scarce land and tremendous expansion of the Jammu city.
While keeping growing housing requirement in mind and conserve the forest land, the charter of demands stressed for vertical housing apartments, instead of traditional dwellings, so that the pressure on the land of the Jammu city especially on agriculture land can be reduced, and added the sewage and bottleneck problem faced by the city people can also be reduced to some extent.
The Minister assured the bearers of Chamber of House and Commerce that due consideration would be given to their genuine demands and added that they have put forth some valuable suggestions for smooth functioning of traffic system and reducing the sewage and water locking problems.
On the occasion, Commissioner/Secretary, Housing & Urban Development, Jeet Lal Gupta, Vice Chairperson, Jammu Development Authority, Sarita Chauhan, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kuldeep Khajuria, Consultant, Housing Department, Sonam Chosjor and other senior officers and representatives of the various trade and commerce organizations.
