Jora, Kamaal dedicate wooden bridge to public

Minister for ULBs Nawang Rigzin Jora inaugurating wooden bridge at Mir Behari on Wednesday.

SRINAGAR, July 10: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora on Wednesday dedicated 40 Mtrs long pedestrian Janta Bridge at Mir Behari to public in presence of MLA, Dr. Mustafa Kamaal. The bridge will benefit thousands of  people living in the lake  by connecting Saidal Kadal with Dal Bund road. The reconstruction of wooden pedestrian bridge restored the linkage for around 22 Mohallas and thus providing a great facility to a large chunk of population of Dal dwellers.
On the occasion, Jora said that rehabilitation programme of the Dal dwellers is under way and added that Government has already formulated a comprehensive plan  to ensure  smooth transition of Dal dwellers to their new colony developed at Rakh-i-Arth and relocate them in accordance with a people friendly rehabilitation policy. He said that Rakh-i- Arth Colony is being developed as modern colony with the provision of all the latest civic amenities like Educational Institutions, health care centres, parks, sewage and drainage, roads, electricity, water supply, commercial areas, religious places. He further said that colony is being linked both with Goripora   as well as Durbal with 4-lane roads. He said that presently a network of roads is being developed in the colony to facilitate the people already settled there.
The Minister assured the locals that pace of the development work of the colony would be further speeded up so that the transition of the dwellers is assured as soon as possible. He said that the procedure for assessment of compensation and allotment of plots is being further streamlined so as to ensure that the Dal dwellers are paid the compensation in one go both for their land as well as their structure to enable them to rebuilt their new houses at Rakh-i-Arth colony. Minister said that their genuine problems would be given due consideration
Latter, the Minister alongwith MLA and Vice Chairman LAWDA, Irfan Yaseen took a round of various areas of Dal including Sultan Mohalla, Moti Mohalla, Mir Bahari Kani Kachi, Kan Mohalla, Sheikh Mohalla, Teli Mohalla, Lito Mohalla and Abi Karapora and interacted with people living in these areas.
