SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today laid the foundation stone of Srinagar Development Authority guest house at Bemina for providing accommodation facilities to visiting dignitaries.
The Vice Chairman, SDA M.S.Shafi was also present on the occasion.
The Minister said that the proposed guest on its completion would not only serve as boarding and lodging facility for the visiting officers and officials, but would also be able to hold state/national level conferences and meetings.
While interacting with the officers and other visiting dignitaries, Mr. Jora said that Government efforts are on to develop the Srinagar city on the modern lines with special focus on the development of basic infrastructure.
Responding to the demands of the employees of SDA, the Minister assured them that due consideration would be given to the demands and added that he has already passed instructions to VC, SDA for redressing the grievances and demands of employees at the earliest.
The Minister further said that strict directions have already been passed to all the concerned to take action against the SDA land encroachers and land grabbers.
Earlier on his welcome address, the Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Mohammad Shafi Rather said that the construction progress of number of projects taken in hand by the SDA including Nowgam Rail Head Commercial Complex is in full swing and added on completion of these projects, not only the common people will be benefitted by getting accommodation, but hoped that a large number of unemployed youth would be able to get jobs. He also said that the project would also be able to cater accommodation facilities to various other line departments like State Board of School Education, Technical Education Department, Revenue Department, SKIMS, Medical College Hospital, Rehabilitation Centre and other department located in Bemina.
Referring the demands of the employees of the department, Mr Rather said that some initiatives have already been taken to hold DPC very soon.
Director, Land Management, Rubina, and Deputy Directors of various wings of the Agency, Land Management, Technical and Enforcement were present on the occasion.
