Srinagar, Oct 10: Minister for Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora has asked the officers of ERA, JMC and JDA to speed up work on Rs 75 crore Gandhi Nagar Car Parking project in order to overcome shortage of car parking in the Gandhi Nagar area.
The state of art car parking will be fully mechanized with two under-ground and one upper-ground stories besides a recreational park and could accommodate about 600 vehicles at a time.
The Minister was reviewing the progress of the multi-storey car parking project at an officers meeting here today.
Among others, Chief Executive Officer, Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), Tehsin Mustafa, Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Satish Nehru and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) were present on the occasion.
The Minister asked the ERA to delete the proposed commercial floor in the multi-storey car parking in order to create recreational facilities for the public visiting the area. “It is resolve of the Government to provide basic facilities for the people” said the Minister, adding that creation of recreational facilities is one of the basic needs in present times.
