Jora, Spalbar call on Azad

NEW DELHI, May 1: The Chief Executive Councilor, Rigzin Spalbar, Tourism Minister, Nawang Rigzin Jora and former Union Minister P Namgial today called on the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here to reiterate the pending proposal of sanctioning medical aid centres and upgradation of existing key medical centers in some of the remote hamlets of Leh district.
Highlighting, the shortage of doctors in the district, they sought Centre Govt.’s intervention in filling up of the vacant posts at the earliest. They also gave a detailed progress report on the ongoing construction work of the different blocks of new building of SNM hospital.
Giving utmost importance to health sector in the district, the Union Health Minister assured to personal visit Leh by end of this month to take stock of present medical facilities and short comings in this sector.
Later, CEC met Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs K S Skandan, at North block and urged him to sanction the project for training of Leh nallah on an urgent note considering the heavy snowfall at Khardong-la this winter that pose a threat of over flow of water in the nallah.
On the request of CEC, the Joint Secretary rang up the different wings of concerned deptt and instructed them to study and clear the technical aspects of the project at the earliest possible.
