Jora takes stock of arrangements for ensuing festivals

SRINAGAR, July 31: Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today visited various shrines in Srinagar city including Hazratbal, Ziyarat Syed Yaqoob Sahib, Ziyarat Naqashband Sahab, Dastageer Sahib and Jamia Masjid and took stock of the arrangements for the ensuing Jumat-ul-vida, Shab-i-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr festivals.
Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Jeet Lal Gupta, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G.N.Qasba and other concerned officers accompanied the Minister.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to put in place all necessary arrangements suiting to the occasions. He enjoined upon them to maintain proper cleanliness and hygienic atmosphere in and around all the Masjids, Shrines and Eidgahs. He directed the officers to ensure proper lighting arrangements around these holy places and adequate drinking water facilities for the devotees.
The Minister also took stock of pace of construction work being executed at Dastageer Shrine at Khanyar and stressed for its time bound completion.
He also paid obeisance at the shrines of Dargah Hazratbal, Hazrat Syed Yaqoob Sahib, Hazrat Naqashband Sahib and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the State and its people.
Mr. Jora also interacted with the devotees and members of the management at the shrines and enquired about the facilities available for the devotees.
