Jora takes stock of people’s grievances

LEH, June 3: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today inspected visited villages of Mukleb, Phobrang, Pangong, Lukung, Spangmik, Man, Merak, Chushul and Sato-Kargyam.
While interacting with the Minister, the people demanded macadamization of road from Lukung to Chushul, improvement of Man-Merak road and installation of BSNL tower on top priority.
Stating that macadamization of road between Lukung and Chuchul was not possible under District Plan, the Minister said that he will try to get a project sanctioned for this road under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) scheme for its early completion.
The Minister inaugurated a 12.5 KW Solar Power Plant at Yurgo (Phobrang) and gave on the spot directions to the concerned departments to address genuine demands of the people.
The people demanded opening of Chushul for tourists, early posting of Headmaster and teaching staff at High School Chushul, opening of a bank branch at Chushul, opening of LPG extension centre, proper drinking water facilities, construction of quarters for Government employees at Chushul and opening of an Animal Centre.
Mr Jora on the spot directed DC, Leh and Education Department to fill up the post of Headmaster and teaching staffs within a week. Responding to the demand for opening Chushul via Tsaga to Nyoma for tourists, the Minister said that he has already taken up the case with Government of India and assured the people that he will reiterate it with Union Government on priority.
The Minister also inaugurated 50 KV Solar Power Plants each at PHC Chushul and High School Chushul. Later, Mr Jora accompanied by district level officers visited Sato-Kargyam village.
