Journalist Asif Sultan gets bail in UAPA case

SRINAGAR, May 15: A local court here today granted bail to journalist Asif Sultan in an FIR registered for commission of offences under Unlawful Activities of Prevention (UAP) Act with various conditions.
The court of Special Judge designated under National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act Srinagar presided over by Sandeep Gandotra admitted scribe-Sultan to bail provided that he shall furnish bail bond to the tune of Rs 1,00,000 each with one surety in the like amount subject to certain conditions which include that the accused shall appear before the IO of the case as and when required and shall not in any way misuse the liberty nor shall get in touch with any of the witnesses or try to influence the course investigation.
Court further said that he shall not tamper with the evidence of the prosecution in any manner and shall not leave the territorial jurisdiction of this court without prior permission of the court. “That the accused person shall not change his residence during the period of bail, without informing this court and shall disclose his mobile numbers issued in his name along with the telecom network to the Investigating Officer/ SHO of the concerned police station”, reads the order.
