JP Singh reviews working of SDRF, Home Guards

JAMMU, Oct 20: IGP Home Guards J&K, JP Singh today reviewed working of State Disaster Response Force including its preparedness to meet with disasters, which has become very relevant when the State was engaged with relief and rehabilitation operations and firing on the borders.
He also reviewed the response of SDRF and Home Guards to floods and firing and stressed the need to intensify measures to reach out to victims of floods and other such disasters.
Singh, who has taken over as the IGP Home Guards with additional charge of ADGP Home Guards relieving ADGP armed of the additional charge in his first review meeting called upon the personnel to step up measures for reaching out to flood victims and any other disaster.
Asserting that it was the force in making with very tough job in hands, Singh said the force would succeed in its job by responding to any disaster well in time and providing timely relief to the victims. Singh said the Civil Defence also plays a vital role in war like situations and disasters and SDRF can mitigate the problems to a great extent with proper coordination. “Creating awareness and training civilians to face disasters like snow avalanches, floods and earthquakes is basic task of the organisation,” he added.
He called upon the jawans of the force to leave no stone unturned in providing relief to victims of any tragedy.
It may be mentioned here that JP Singh has held various important assignment including DIG Jammu-Kathua range, Baramulla range and SSP of various important and militancy-infested districts including Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kupwara and Budgam.
