RAJOURI, July 10: A strong protest dharna was staged by daily wagers of JPDCL in Rajouri demanding release of their pending salary and redressal of their pending demands.
A large number of JPDCL workers assembled at their main office at Rajouri today and staged protest dharna. They were shouting slogans against the JPDCL authorities, demanding release of their pending salaries.
The protesting workers stated that they are performing duty without any salary and department is not paying any attention towards them as they are doing all the works in the department assigned to them by putting their life at risk.
They added that a number of daily wagers lost their lives while performing their job and department has no policy for them which is a great injustice. Protesting employees told that they are doing work on a meager salary which is not paid to them timely and due to which their families have to suffer a lot.
They strongly demanded that Government must come out with a clear policy regarding their regularisation in the department. They added that if their demands are not met with in two days they will go for indefinite strike till their demands are not fulfilled.
They added that department is regularly deducting premium for insurance from their salary but the insurance is not paid to the family of those who were killed while performing their duty.
