JPPF celebrates 170th Foundation Day of J&K

JAMMU, Mar 16: Jammu Province Peoples Forum (JPPF) celebrated 170th Foundation/Raising Day of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the programme organized under the chairmanship of Pavitar Singh, President, JPPF, the participants paid floral tributes to Maharaj Gulab Singh the first ruler of the J&K State.
“Gulab Singh signed treaty of Lahore on March 9, 1846 and Treaty of Amritsar on March 16, 1846 and was recognized as absolute ruler and Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir by the Treaty of Amritsar. Hence the vast landmass of Jammu and Kashmir came into existence as an empire on March 16, 1846”, informed Working President of the Forum MS Katoch.
JPPF also decided to celebrate the historical event with full enthusiasm every year to make public aware of the historical facts of existence of Jammu and Kashmir.
JPPF appealed to every citizen as well as organisations to come forward to celebrate March 16 every year as J&K’s Raising Day with full enthusiasm.
Among others present were Inderjeet Khajuria, Senior Vice President JPPF, Gajan Singh, Vice President, ML Sharma, Finance Secretary, Amrit Magotra, Office Secretary, PR Slathia, Additional Office Secretary, Rajeev Mahajan, Press Secretary, etc.
