JPPF celebrates Raising Day of J&K

JAMMU, Mar 15: Jammu Province People’s Forum, an amalgam of more than 50 social, commercial and other organizations, today celebrated 169th Raising Day of Jammu and Kashmir.
During an impressive function in this regard,  rich tributes were paid to Maharaja Gulab Singh  for his visionary approach and leadership qualities in shaping Jammu and Kashmir State.
President of JPPF, Th  Pavitar Singh threw light on history of J&K and its creation on 16th March, 1846 when Amritsar Treaty was executed between Maharaja Gulab Singh  and Sir Henry Harding, then  Governor General of British India.
Pertinent to mention that the JPPF celebrates the historical event with full enthusiasm every year to make public aware of the historical part of existence of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speakers on the occasion, also appealed to every citizen as well as organizations to come forward and  celebrate March 16 every year as J&K State’s Raising Day with full joy.
Prominent among others, who spoke on the occasion, included Inderjeet Khajuria,  Gajan Singh Khajuria, Kr Narayan Singh,  M S Katoch, Avinash Bhatia, M L Sharma,  Amrit Mangotra, P R Salathia, Rajiv Mahajan,  Sunita Sharma,  Kamla Sharma,  Henna Jamwal, S  Balwinder Singh, Prof  B L Bhardwaj, Prof  Devender Sharma,  K K Proach and  S Gajan Singh.
