JAMMU, Oct 10: Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) today submitted a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, regarding the chaos and confusion created amongst the public due to changed distribution policy of LPG cylinders.
The memorandum sought the attention of the Government on chaos created amongst the poor masses due to new policy regarding LPG cylinders, as any delay in clarification and rectification in this regard may cause law and order problem in the State.
The policy of imposing cap on the distribution of subsidies LPG Cylinders to six without taking the public into confidence and even without considering the extremely cold climate of the State, with no other alternative source of energy, has put common man to severe harassment, the memorandum stated, seeking the enhancement in number of subsidized cylinder from 6 to 12.
It seems that the LPG distributors have intentionally created the said chaos in distribution of LPG cylinders to satisfy their nefarious designs otherwise there was no reason for disrupting the satisfactory supply system, the memorandum said, adding it is unfortunate that the Government has failed to analyze the problem and is behaving as mute spectator to the public apathy.
The memorandum further stated that in view of the changed policy the process of verification of gas connections has put the public to great inconvenience. The Forum proposes that verification process should continue simultaneously without disrupting the supply of gas cylinders to consumers as here to fore and the home delivery should immediately be resumed.
The Forum asserted that the verification process should be simplified and the concerned staff should visit every home instead of compelling consumers to run after the gas distributors.
It is further suggested that Government should continue supply of subsidized gas cylinders to langars, mid-day meals, charitable institutions besides the labour class who are working in the State but are not holders of ration cards.
