JPPF urges Govt to make functional tourism projects of Jammu

JAMMU, July 30: Expressing grave concern over financial crunch being faced by the business houses of Jammu city, Jammu Province People’s Forum, an amalgam of more than 50 social, commercial and other organisations, has urged the Government to make tourism projects of Jammu functional without any lapse of time so that the losses may be compensated.
“Since the train service was started to Katra, the economy of Jammu city and business houses is under severe financial crunch, therefore the Government should make efforts to make functional tourism projects of Jammu as soon as possible so that the losses may be covered up”, the Forum said in a meeting held here today.
Other issues which came up for discussion in the meeting included issue of Home Guards, who have been struggling for last 14-15 years with receiving a petty amount of Rs 500 per month, discrimination with 1500 Agriculture Technocrats appointed under Rehbar-e-Zerat, denial of justice to PoJK refugees and unemployed dental surgeons as also issues of pensioners.
Earlier, on the very onset of meeting MS Katoch was unanimously elected as new working president of the Forum by founder president of the Forum, Thakur Pavitar Singh along with other members of the Forum.
Speaking on the occasion, Katoch said very shortly the Forum would start its expansion programme and will have its units functional in every nook and corner of Jammu province. Besides, Youth Wing and Women Wing will also be made functional very soon to ensure their participation too, he added.
