JAMMU, Mar 1: Protesting against PDP-BJP alliance, Jammu Pradesh United Front activists today courted arrest while taking out a march appealing shopkeepers to observe a shutdown against the alleged sell-out of Jammu interests by BJP.
The JPUF activists and the Front convener, Balwant Singh Mankotia, were taken to Pacca Danga Police Station but released later on.
Mr Mankotia along with other activists were  raising  slogans against the convergence of the two diametrically opposite political parties  to forge an alliance at the costs of the aspirations and mandate of the people of Jammu Pradesh.
The other leaders who were detained by the police included Uday Chand, Gagan Pratap Singh,Vinod Singh, Rajesh Gondhi, Sahil Gupta, Ravinder Singh, Kailash  Mohan, Satvir Singh, Parshottam Singh, Anil Rakwal, Mandeep Kohli and Rohit Singh.
Mankotia alleged that the BJP seemed to have surrendered all the Jammu oriented issues before the PDP and failed to incorporate them in an effective CMP on which it had contested the Assembly elections and subsequently elected 25 MLA’s from Jammu Pradesh.  “Moreover, BJP has betrayed and befooled the electorate  of Jammu Pradesh and hurt the aspirations and the sentiments of the people ruthlessly and  shamelessly indulged in a  worst ever ‘political debauchery’ with the PDP,”  he further said  and added that March 1  would  be observed as a Black Day  for making the mockery of the people  of Jammu division who had pinned hopes from the  Saffron party in the times to come.
Uday Chand, spokesman and the core member of the Front, alleged that the support of BJP to the PDP led Government is nothing but a brazen ‘sell out of the mandate’ of the people of Jammu Pradesh. “Moreover, the assurances of rehabilitation  of border migrants, abrogation of Article 370 and non-revocation of AFSPA by the BJP have also been put in ambiguity  at the cost of the people’s overwhelming response during the elections,” he added.
