Jammu, Mar 24: In a decisive action sending a strong message of zero tolerance to the perpetrators of the scourge of narcotics afflicting the society, particularly its young, the Jal Shakti Department (JSD) has dismissed five permanent employees and disengaged ten temporary staff linked to offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The action was taken under Article 311 of the Constitution of India to uphold discipline and ensure accountability within the department.
These employees were served show-cause notices, their responses were reviewed and before the decision to dismissal or disengagement was finalized, thorough inquiries were conducted.
Sources in the Jal Shakti Department stated that the action reflects the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards unlawful activities and emphasized that Government employees involved in drug-related offences not only tarnish the department’s reputation but also undermine public trust.
The department remains committed to ensuring a professional and accountable workforce and has pledged to continue strict monitoring to prevent any such incidents in the future.
