JSM condemns JU authorities

JAMMU, June 9: Jammu Students Morcha (JSM) has condemned the authorities of University of Jammu (JU) for disobeying the Governor (Chancellor Jammu University) order which said that one person be given one post in the university administration.
Addressing the media persons here today, Vijay Kumar, State president JSM, alleged that various senior professors in the University had been holding more than one key positions since long, notwithstanding the order of JU Chancellor.
“As per norms, one man should hold one post only. But what is happening in the campus is contrary to the rules”, Vijay said, adding all this has upset the normal functioning of the varsity.
Citing examples, he said that Keshav Sharma, a Professor in The Business School is presently holding the charge of Controller of Examination. At the same time he is also Rector Udhampur Campus, Chief Coordinator to all campuses, Convener Board of Studies in Management and Co-ordinater SET Jammu.
Dr Manoj K Dhar has been occupying five key positions in the university. He has been portion as Registrar, Director, School of Biotechnology, Co-ordinater DST Special Science Package and advisor to Health Centre.
Similarly, Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta has been occupying four key positions in the university– Director, Colleges Development Council, Dean Business Studies, member of University Syndicate and also selection committee member in Kashmir University and Shri Mata Vashino Devi University.
Other professors who are holding more than one posts include Prof Kuldeep Sharma, Prof Rajnikant, Prof Vivek Gupta, Prof Jasber Singh, Prof Archana Kesar and Prof Depankar Sen.
Expressing concern over the matter, he appealed the Chancellor of University to take cognizance of the matter and initiate measures to streamline the functioning.
