JTC fast continues; Cong, Non Camp extend support

JAMMU, Oct 4: The hunger strike launched by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) at Jagti township entered 3rd day today. The Committee president, Shadi Lal Pandita while reiterating his demands said the hunger strike will continue till demands are met.
Meanwhile, Congress Migrant Cell extended its full support to JTC in its hunger strike and urged the Government to accept its demands without further delay.
The president of the Cell Hira Lal Pandita and its general secretary, Chuni Lal Kandi alleged that the Government has failed to solve the demands of displaced Pandits leading an exiled life for last 31 years. They termed the demand regarding enhancement of cash relief as genuine saying that the migrants dependent on cash doles are unable to meet their both ends in these tough times when prices of essential commodities have touched sky.
They, while urging the Government to settle the demands projected by JTC and SKF said the increasing unemployment has led to the frustration of displaced youth as they have no source of income after losing their entire immovable property due mass exodus. The Congress leaders also demanded release balance ex-gratia, compensation to over aged youth and restoration of encroached properties of migrants with a job package of 20,000 posts for displaced youth including 500 posts of class fourth and rehabilitation of community.
Non Camp Migrant Organization president Roshan Lal Raina has also supported the hunger strike of JTC and urged the Government to solve the demands immediately. He said the migrants putting up in camps and on camp localities face many hardships and the government should settle their genuine demands without further delay.
He urged the Relief Commissioner to take the cognizance of the demands of migrants living in non camp localities also.
