JTC, SKF continue protest; demand relief enhancement

JAMMU, Apr 15: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) which is on protest for last 532 days at Jagti township today expressed serious concern over the growing unemployment among the displaced KP youth and said that this has led to their desperation.
Addressing the protestors the president of the JTC and SKF Shadi Lal Pandita said that Government has totally ignored the demand of relief holders who are sitting on protest nearly for two years now as they are not able to sustain with paltry cash relief in the present time of crisis when the prices of essential commodities have touched sky. He reiterated his demand of enhancement of monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per family.
Pandita, while accusing the Union Government of ignoring the displaced Pandits totally said that no steps have been taken for their rehabilitation or solving the growing unemployment problem of community youth who have no source of income. He demanded that job avenues be created either in private sector or Government sector for the youth of those migrant families who have no earning hand in their families.
Pandita also reiterated his demand of establishing three townships one each in Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla districts for the permanent rehabilitation of displaced Pandits. Besides, he also demanded reservation of five Assembly seats and two Parliamentary seats one each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for the Kashmiri Pandits.
