JTC, SKF highlight issues of migrants

JAMMU, July 10: A meeting was held by the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) at Jagti township near here, today under the chairmanship of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita in which the problems of Kashmiri Pandits were discussed.
Addressing the meeting Pandita said that a lot of power curtailment is being done by the Power Department in Jagti township due to which Jagti inmates especially sick, elderly persons and children are put to hardships in this hot and humid Summer.
Pandita urged the Government and Power Development Department (PDD) to reduce power cuts in Jagti township so that migrants are not forced to come to streets.
Pandita said that the hundreds families of relief holders have not been given the ration for the months of April and May 2023 in Jagti zone A. These families have been unnecessarily put to hardships by the authorities. He demanded that the ration be issued to them as early as possible.
He showed concern that the relief holders have not been given flour for last four months.
Pandita said that for the last four years the relief holders have been protesting who are unable to keep the body and soul together due to the price hike of essential commodities and they are demanding that monthly cash relief be increased from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 for which the Government should take concrete steps.
Pandita said that the BJP Government has failed to resettle the Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley and demanded that the community be permanently settled in Kashmir.
