JTC, SKF hold protest

JAMMU, July 1: A peaceful protest was held by the Jagti Tenement committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) which was led by its president Shadi Lal Pandita.
Addressing the protestors Pandita said that the Jagti migrants filled the objections for the representatives list which was prepared and published by the Camp Commandant, Relief Zone Jagti ABC under No-CC/IT/abc 22 dated 26-6-2023.
He said that the representative list has been rejected by the Jagti migrants as the opinions of the majority of inmates of Jagti township have not been taken while preparing the list.
The members said that a pick and choose policy has been followed in making this list while representation of 456 migrants families of 19 blocks has not been taken and out of the 176 blocks that are in Jagti township out of which the majority people have not been asked for making this representatives list .
He said that this list also includes the names of those people whose quarters are locked from many years so the Jagti migrants have rejected this representatives list.
JTC and SKF has demanded Relief Department hold elections of representatives in Jagti township and the Election Department of UT be asked to conduct the election in Jagti township for which every voter should be given the right to elect his representative under the rules and regulations of Election Commission of India/ under the constitution of India.
