JTC, SKF protest enters 218th day

JAMMU, June 24: On the 218th day of the protest, a peaceful demonstration was held by the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) J&K in Jagti township under the leadership of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita today.
Addressing the protestors, Pandita said that JTC and SKF activists have been protesting for 218 days but we are being ignored by the UT and Central Government. He said “We will not stop, until our demands are met,. We the Kashmiri Pandits have been homeless for 31 years due to militancy. We are demanding increase in the monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per family”.
He demanded jobs in those families where there is no serving Government employee for which a package of 20,000 jobs should be announced. Out of these posts 5,000 Class 4th posts should be given to unemployed youth who could not continue their education beyond Matric due to poverty.
Besides he demanded compensation for loss of property suffered in last 31 years. Recruitment of Kashmiri migrant youth on-spot in the police force should be held at Jagti township and other migrant camps and non camps.
He also demanded political reservation and minority status to Kashmiri Pandits and settlement of the community in three townships in Kashmir Valley. Others who participated in the protest included Raj Kumar Tickoo, Ravinder Koul, Rakesh Ambardar, Rakesh Tickoo ,Sunil Koul, Shuban Ji Raina, Kamal Ji Pandita, Vijay Bakshi, Ram Krishan, Ramesh Suri, Rakesh Koul, Charanjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh etc.
