JAMMU, July 8: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) was held under the presidentship of Piaray Lal Thussu, its chairman today.
The meeting while highlighting the issues expressed concern over the drinking water scarcity, improper supply of ration, poor sanitation and erratic power supply in the township which has added to the woes of the people there.
After discussion of the problems, a protest demonstration was held under the leadership of Shadi Lal Pandita, president, JTC at the Jagti township. The protesters said that some vested interests who met with the Hurriyat leaders and rejected the demand of separate townships for the community in Valley and want to live in their original villages and mohallas where from they migrated in 1990 have betrayed the community.
Pandita criticised them and informed to all the community and also the Central and State Governments including the Hurriyat leaders that they have no mandate to discuss displaced Pandits permanent rehabilitation in Kashmir Valley.
