JAMMU, Sept 24: Jammu Tourist Trade Action Committee is not against the shifting of some of the trains as per budget speech of Railway Minister to make the pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Comfortable.
This was stated in the press conference, where in president of Jammu Tourist Trade Action Committee (JTTAC) Davinder Choudhary urged the Railway Ministry to ensure that all the trains coming from different parts of the country terminates at Jammu Railway Station and pilgrims may proceed to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine to reach Katra by using DMUs local trains or public transport.
Choudhary said that since most of the trains reaching Katra have caused a considerable loss to the hoteliers, transporters, traders not only of Katra but of Jammu and authorities need to appreciate the fact that modernization and creation of more infrastructure is never aimed at causing loss to the stake holders. “ It should make the life of the people comfortable and it should also help the people to give a fillip to the economic activities they carry to sustain themselves and their families and enrich the State’s economy” he added.
Kuldip Wahi, chairman of the JTTAC raised the demand for completion of tourism projects in Jammu such as cable car from Peer Kho to Mahamaya and Shahbad Basti, artificial lake and restoration of historic Mubarak Mandi to its pristine glory. He also highlighted other development and tourists projects of in and around Jammu city.
In a appeal to the authorities, Choudhary hoped that they would not do any harm to economic activities in Jammu and adversely affect their financial position. He said that JTTAC would soon submit a detail memorandum to the appropriate authorities highlighting their apprehension and the problems they face.
