JAMMU, Jan 22: A delegation of Jammu Tourist Trade Organization (JTTO) today met Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal and apprised him of illegally plying of sleeper coaches in Jammu province.
The delegation told the Divisional Commissioner that the unauthorized plying of sleeper coaches not only affects the business of Transporters of the region but it also make a dent on the Tourist trade, as in case of any mis-happening, the passengers will not get any claim from insurance company being the vehicle not operating under Motor Vehicles Act.
The Divisional Commissioner was also told that despite State High Court and State Transport Department’s order of strict implementation of rules under Motor Vehicles Act, these sleeper coaches are plying uninterrupted in the Jammu region.
Dr Kotwal advised the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu as well as Kathua to form a committee for stopping the menace of illegal operation of sleeper coaches in the interest of the tourist and pilgrims visiting the State.
