JAMMU, Feb 17: Jammu University’s decision of removing Prof Archana Kesar from headship of the Dogri Department and suspension of three scholars for their alleged action of trying to malign image of the university, has invited mixed reaction of the students.
Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) has strongly denounced the act and given a boycott call on the campus from tomorrow onwards till the decision is reversed. “The JU administration instead of appreciating the act of HoD, levelled baseless allegation of leaking the official communication and removed her from the headship while the three office bearers of JURSEA namely Sunny Babbar, Manzoor and Gopal have done nothing wrong by exposing the fraud in evaluation of answer scripts,” said JURSEA president Sukhdev Singh while addressing a hurriedly called press conference.
He pointed out that the Acting VC failed to take note of the letter sent by HoD Dogri dated Dec 22, 2014 and formed committee to probe the matter only on Feb 12, 2015 after JURSEA office bearers held a press conference.
Echoing the voice of JURSEA, National Secular Forum has also announced to register protest against the removal of HoD Dogri and suspension of three scholars.
According to NSF senior vice president Surjit Choudhary, the entire cadre of NSF will stage dharna in front of the Raj Bhawan on Wednesday to express resentment against the action and for seeking intervention of the Governor into the whole matter.
However, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has appreciated the JU action against Prof Archana Kesar and three scholars.
Sandeep Sharma and Jang Bahadur Singh of ABVP addressed a press conference on the campus and said that the group of JURSEA, headed by its president Sukhdev Singh, was constantly involved in misguiding and misleading the students and scholars by protesting and agitating against VC without any facts and figures. They also demanded strict action against all those who were involved in damaging the reputation of Jammu University.
