JAMMU, Aug 25: The Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Jammu today celebrated Librarians’ Day with great enthusiasm and reverence.
The event was a testament to the importance of librarians in shaping the world of knowledge and learning. The celebration included insightful lectures, a distinguished chief guest and inspirational speeches.
The highlight of the event was the enlightening lecture delivered by the Head of the Department Prof Sangita Gupta, who eloquently discussed the legacy of Dr S R Ranganathan, a pioneer in the field of Library Science. The lecture shed light on Ranganathan’s innovative contributions and his enduring influence on modern librarianship.
The event was graced by the presence of Professor Rahul Gupta, Registrar University of Jammu as the chief guest. He threw insights into the evolving role of librarians in the digital era. His lecture was a thought-provoking exploration of the challenges and opportunities that librarians face in today’s information-rich society.
Assistant Professor Ashwin Khushwaha also shared his thoughts, emphasizing the pivotal role librarians play in fostering a culture of curiosity and lifelong learning.
