The daily protest is being held under the banner of Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union, which is demanding reinstatement of two Watchmen, who were suspended last week following the defacement of a stone plate replicating inauguration of Jammu University by then Chief Minister Sheikh Mohd Abdullah.
While addressing the protesting employees, NGEU president Vijay Sharma warned to extend the two-hour daily strike to indefinite full day if the suspended Watchmen are not reinstated.
Even as a meeting between the NGEU representatives and the Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma was held last evening but the talks failed and the union decided to continue the ongoing stir till its demand is conceded.
