JU class IV employees continue token strike

JAMMU, May 16: On third day of their ongoing token strike, the Jammu University Class-IV employees and casual labourers suspended their work for three hours and took out a rally on the campus.
Under the banner of JU Non-Gazetted Employees Union, the rally started from the Old Administration block and culminated near the office of Registrar University. The protesting employees and workers were raising slogans in support of their demands, such as regularization of casual labourers who have completed seven years in service, time bound promotion, washing and risk allowances, establishment of English Medium School for wards of JU employees, removal of pay anomalies, pensionary benefits and construction of Housing Colony for JU non-gazetted employees.
The rally was addressed by NGEU president Krishan Chand and general secretary Vijay Kumar who urged the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor to re-organize the administration in Jammu University for creating positive working environment on the campus.
Meanwhile, J&K People’s Democratic Trade Union has extended its active support to the agitating JU employees. District president of PDTU, Jasmeet Singh has urged the Government to come forward and negotiate with the agitating employees with a positive approach.
