JAMMU, Nov 30: Even as Jammu University today dissociated Prof Tajuddin from teaching in the university with immediate effect till pending inquiry, JU students held a protest demonstration seeking dismissal of the erring professor, who had purportedly described Shaheed Bhagat Singh as a terrorist.
Shouting slogans in support of their demand, a number of students assembled in front of the university main gate and staged a dharna there. They were carrying placards and demanding immediate dismissal of Prof Tajuddin from Jammu University.
The protest dharna was also addressed by a few student leaders who alleged that some urban Naxalites like Prof Tajuddin in Jammu University were pleading the cause of anti-nationals by describing Shaheed Bhagat Singh as terrorist.

Alleging that Prof Tajuddin was habitual of creating such controversies and hurting the sentiments of nationalist people, the protesting students stressed that such a faculty member should be immediately dismissed from the university service and booked under National Security Act.
Later, the protesting students also met the university authorities and warned indefinite protests if the erring Professor was not dismissed from service with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, adopting tough posture against the erring Professor against whom an inquiry committee has already been constituted, the University authorities today dissociated him from the teaching with immediate effect.
As already reported, during a lecturer in the class room, Prof Tajuddin of the Department of Political Science in JU termed Bhagat Singh as a terrorist of Indian freedom struggle era. “Terrorism Yahan Bhi Hua, Aazadi Ke Daur Mai. Bhagat Singh, Hum Unko Hero Bnate Hain…they were also terrorists,” he is heard in a video clip, which was captured by a student during the lecture in class room.
After the matter was brought into the notice of JU authorities last evening, Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar had ordered constitution of an inquiry committee to look into the matter and submit him a report for further action.
