JU Kathua Campus organises industrial visit for MBA students

KATHUA, Oct 16: Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, today organized an industrial visit for the students of MBA programme at Chenab Textile Mills, a part of Sutlej Textiles and Industries Ltd., a Blue-chip company of K K Birla Group.
Kapil Chauhan, Dy. General Manager-Administration coordinated the visit and deputed his team members namely Kanika Sambyal – Welfare Officer, Rajan and Malti who explained the whole process of manufacturing various types of yarn and computerized testing laboratories at CTM, Kathua.
The visit was organized under the overall guidance of Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, with a purpose to acquaint the management students with the industrial and production processes.
Students saw installed highly sophisticated quality testing equipments to test the yarn to stringent Uster and Classmate standards. They also learnt about the advance generation computerized shade developer and matching instruments which are to provide consistency of shades. The processes of sorting yarn were also shared with the students. They were told that the mill is providing direct employment to more than 9000 persons and indirect employment opportunities to thousand other.
During the visit, Kanika Sambyal gave a presentation in which she informed that Chenab Textile Mills is one of the largest and the oldest industrial unit of the State which was set up at Kathua in 1962 with initial capacity of 12,600 spindles. Since then Company has continuously been investing on modernization and expansion of capacities and at present the Mill has a capacity of more than 1,70,600 spindles producing Synthetic blended Grey & Dyed Yarn, Cotton Dyed & Mélange yarn. She informed that Chenab Textile Mills has been awarded the right to use USTERISED® Trade Mark by Uster Technologies AG, Switzerland. This right to use this trademark signifies excellent quality management systems followed by the Mills.
The students were accompanied by Dr Vivek Sharma- Academic Coordinator, Dr. Naresh Sharma, Pankaj Khajuria, Vishal Sharma, Pinkey, Dr Shelleka Gupta and Sarvjot Singh, faculty members for MBA programme.
